What it actually does
We'd rather you buy the right thing than buy ours, so here's the honest version.
This is a 290 ANSI lumen projector. In plain terms: it looks great once the sun goes down or the curtains are shut, and it washes out in a bright room. If you want to watch the cricket at midday, this isn't your projector — and nothing at this price is.
After dark it's genuinely good. A 100-inch picture on a bare wall, sharp enough that you stop thinking about it, for less than a decent TV stand costs.
Three steps
1. Plug in. Mains adapter is in the box. There's no battery, so it needs an outlet — or an extension lead into the garden.
2. Point. Sit it 1.2 to 4 metres from the wall. Auto keystone squares the picture up on its own, so it doesn't need to be perfectly lined up. Around 2.5 metres gives you roughly 100 inches, which is the sweet spot.
3. Play. Android is built in, so connect Wi-Fi and open an app. Or cast from your phone, or plug something into HDMI.
Worth knowing
You don't need a projector screen. A flat white or light grey wall works fine — a screen sharpens it slightly, but plenty of people never bother.
The built-in speaker is fine for a bedroom or a quiet backyard. To fill a bigger space, pair a Bluetooth speaker; it takes about ten seconds.
It gets warm and you can hear the fan in a silent room. Leave some air around the vents and don't sit it on a blanket.
On streaming: Netflix blocks playback on unlicensed Android projectors, so the app is unreliable on this and every other projector in its class. Cast from your phone or plug in a streaming stick and it's a non-issue. YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, Stan and Plex all install and run natively.
